A NEW ROLE FOR BRENDAN MORRISON
September 22nd, 2009 · No Comments
by Ron Spence
Most ‘nucks’ fans liked Brendan Morrison. They just knew that it was time for him to move on. He was often injured and tended to play on the outside.
He started off in Anaheim – still injured – and finished last season in Dallas.
Now, he’s getting a fresh start in Washington – taking on [...]

DAN CLOUTIER TALKS COMEBACK
September 21st, 2009 · No Comments
“Dan Cloutier has had hip surgery twice in the past two years and was out of hockey last season,” wrote Ansar Khan of mlive.com
But the veteran goaltender isn’t prepared to retire before seeing if he still can play in the NHL. If he can’t, he likely will pursue opportunities in Europe.
For now, Cloutier is trying [...]

CLOUTIER TO EUROPE?
September 20th, 2009 · No Comments
“…Dan Cloutier, who’s in Red Wings training camp on a tryout, will play in an exhibition game, either Monday at the New York Rangers or Tuesday at Philadelphia, coach Mike Babcock said.
“He hasn’t played in a year, so we thought the best way to approach it is to get in camp (and practice) a little [...]

He was as fast as the wind – but always blew in the same direction. Brandon Reid was fun to watch – and hope for – but he never elevated his game. He played 13 games for the ‘nucks over three seasons. Now he’s playing in Germany….

It’s the rainy season here in Thailand and is very hot during the afternoon, and quite damp as the day wears on. With the changes in humidity and heat, it sometimes makes it difficult to sleep at night.
A few nights ago at 3 am, I couldn’t sleep and went on the net.
After reading [...]

STEVE KARIYA: STARRING IN FINLAND
July 9th, 2009 · No Comments
by Ron Spence
With Vancouver’s selection of Jordan Schroeder, people have been remembering the names of Cliff Ronning, Brandon Reid and Steve Kariya.
They were the Canucks’ Lilliputians.
Most nucks fans will remember Kariya, who played very well in the pre-season, but faltered as the campaign went on.
I’ve been following Stevie over the past couple of seasons – [...]

PRAISING MATT COOKE
June 17th, 2009 · No Comments
by Ron Spence
I’ve never been a Matt Cooke fan.
I have been critical of him, and don’t respect much of his game.
But, I have to give credit where credit is due.
Cooke was being interviewed – after game 7 – and said that it was a moment that his family would never forget, and that he wanted to [...]
