Numbers don’t lie – as the saying goes. But, they don’t always tell the truth.
When you compare the 1st quarter of the NHL season – Team Points versus Man Games Lost – you can’t tell if it’s an impact player or a 4th liner who has been injured.
However, that being said, some interesting truths emerge.
Colorado, Chicago, and to a lesser degree – Columbus – have done well considering the number of injuries that their teams have suffered.

Anaheim – on the other hand – lost about one man per game and yet finished 14th in the Western Conference.
Calgary has done fairly well, but only suffered 15 man games over 18 contests.

Nucks and Oilers fans will find solice in the fact that they suffered the highest man losses in the NHL so far this 1st quarter.
Nucks fans will find particular solice in the fact that a number of their top forwards and their goalie were out for prolonged periods of time, and the team is only 4 points out of 5th place (going into tonight’s game against Colorado).
