Jeff Cowan has moved east from Peoria, Illinois to Portland, Maine. And he’s in the Buffalo Sabres system, rather than the Canucks/Blues.

This season he’s both scoring and fighting. As of today, he’s had five fighting majors: against Kip Brennan, Wade Brookbank, Nicolas Blanchard, Kirk MacDonald and Vladimir Mihalik.

Also, he’s scored five goals, along with 2 assists in 16 games.

Cowan is getting some power play time and his fifth goal came from a Mike Kostka blast that bounced in off of the Barbarian.

Cowans’ five goals puts him one behind Sergein Shirokov and would tie him for second in Moose scoring. Cowan is 3rd in Pirates goal scoring (Portland is in the AHL cellar with 12 points.).
