Hockey News writer Adam Proteau was taking the NHL owners to task over the NHLPA’s firing of Paul Kelly.
He referred to “…a Goodenowian philosophy from the owners….”
Mr. Proteau is obviously chronologically challenged.
That’s like saying that Roberto Luongo taught Georges Vezina how to play in goal.
Bob Goodenow was mirroring Alan Eagleson who totally mirrored [...]

It’s the rainy season here in Thailand and is very hot during the afternoon, and quite damp as the day wears on. With the changes in humidity and heat, it sometimes makes it difficult to sleep at night.
A few nights ago at 3 am, I couldn’t sleep and went on the net.
After reading [...]

UNNAMED SOURCES ATTACK PAUL KELLY

If I didn’t have an opinion on the Paul Kelly firing, I do now.
The Sports Business Journal printed the shoddiest journalism I’ve ever read.
The article is about NHL players not trusting Paul Kelly, and quotes only one person – Buzz Hargrove.
But, there are 11 other quotes or assertions made by unnamed sources.
It’s tragic [...]

The Canucks’ netminding is the best ever.
Roberto has signed a 12 year deal – with a few outs along the way – but has still made a commitment to the franchise – and the fans.
And the best goalie in the AHL is Vancouver’s number two guy.
It’s a long way from Brian Burke’s goalie [...]

DOUG WILSON: THE CONSTANT HORSETRADER

There’s been talk of a Sens/Sharks swap – Dany Heatley for unnamed parties.
Doug Wilson has a history of big trades (He was named the Sharks’ GM on May 13, 2003, replacing his former boss, Dean Lombardi.).
Wilson wasn’t that active – in the trade market – during his first three years as top dog, [...]

NHL travel via Air Canada – in the U.S. – is now a subject of controversy.
So, we though that we would reprint the following article on the NHL’s history of air travel.

by Glen R. Goodhand
There is some controversy over which NHL club first introduced air travel as a method of getting to their out-of-town destinations.
In [...]

CHARLES-ANTOINE MESSIER: ABANDONED PROSPECT

I had made a spreadsheet of Mike Gillis’ empty cupboard last season, and decided to compare it with this year’s prospects – and missing was Charles-Antoine Messier.
I remembered that he had been a so so prospect, ranked along with Patrick White, Matt Butcher, etc. by Hockey’s Future.
Messier had been drafted in the sixth [...]

CRASHING THE GOALIE

Bruins’ netminder Tim Thomas is crashed by the Predators’ J.P. Dumont.
courtesy of bostom.com
Dumont said: ”That was the worst call I’ve ever seen, to tell you the truth. I know he’s coming out. I stop not to hit him, he pretty much charges me, I fall on him, and he starts punching me with his blocker.
“So I [...]

A QUEBEC PERSPECTIVE ON THE ROBERTO EXTENSION
September 4th, 2009 · No Comments

I was searching for information on a Canucks’ prospect from Quebec and came across the following article on the Roberto Luongo contract extension.
It was published in cyberpresse.ca and written by highly respected writer Francois Gagonon.
It is a google translation – and therefore not grammatically sound – but the reader will understand a Quebec [...]

Well, unless you are living on the moon without an internet connection, you already know the news. And it’s big, folks. And the implications for this franchise will last far beyond the length of this new deal.
