“One thing that happened for sure with the tough guys is their salaries have gone down because people don’t want to spend as much on them because they need the money for more talent. The next step is, do we really need it at all, or should we take a page from Detroit’s book and [...]

“The Sabres have signed veteran left winger Jeff Cowan, who more than likely will earn a ticket to Portland rather than a spot on Buffalo’s already crowded forward lines.
Cowan has played in 413 NHL games since debuting with Calgary in the 1999-2000 season. The 6-foot-2, 205-pounder has also played [...]

MICHAEL WARD: NOT LUC BOURDON
August 20th, 2009 · 3 Comments
by Ron Spence
Michael Ward isn’t the second coming of Luc Bourdon.
Like Bourdon, however, he grew up in Shippagan, New Brunswick, and played for the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles.
Bourdon was drafted 10th overall by the Vancouver Canucks in 2005, and Ward was drafted 197th – in the 8th round – by the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2007.
Ward, [...]
