TRIVIA: CLAUDE LEMIEUX'S PLAYOFF RECORDS

We mentioned – in our last trivia blog – that Claude Lemieux is tied for the most Stanley Cup wins with three different teams.

Should the Sharks win this June, he will have won Cups with four different teams.

Lemieux has a reasonable chance of surpassing two other NHL records and is a longshot for a third.

What are they?

Claude Lemieux has played in 233 playoff games, behind Chris Chelios who has played 260 and Patrick Roy who has played 247 and mark Messier who has played in 236.

If Chris Chelios doesn’t play during the post-season and Lemieux plays in 27 contests, he will be tied for first place. Lemieux has to play in only 14 games to pass Messier.

He could also equal Brett Hull’s 803 shots on goal. If Claude Lemieux averages 3 shots per contest in 25 games, he will own the record. He is currently second with 729 shots on goal during the post-season.

Lemieux – who is 9th in playoff goals with 80 – would have to win a second Conn Smythe Trophy with 5 game winning goals to equal Brett Hull’s and Gretz’s 24 game winners. The new Shark is tied with Joe Sakic with 19.
