TRIVIA: MULTIPLE STANLEY CUPS

Six players have won at least three Stanley Cups from three different teams.

Three of them won one of their Cups with the Habs.

Three others played on three other teams besides Montreal.

Who are the three players who won one Cup with the Canadiens?

Who are the three other players?

Claude Lemieux and Mike Keane won three Cups, one while wearing a Montreal Canadiens’ jersey. Keane raised the Cup in 1993 when he was with Montreal and three years later with the Colorado Avalanche, and three years after that when he was with the Dallas Stars in 1999.

Claude Lemieux spread his Cups over fifteen seasons. He won his first with the Habs in 1986, the Devils in 1995 and the Avalanche – along with Keane – in 1996. He won a second Cup with the Devils in 2000 and could win a fourth Cup with the Sharks this post-season.

Larry Hillman wore a Red Wings jersey in 1955, a Leafs jersey in 1964 and 1967, and a Habs jersey in 1969.

Joe Nieuwendyk also won three Stanley Cups. His first was with the Calgary Flames in 1989. His second was ten years later when he was with the Dallas Stars in 1999 – along with Mike Keane – and his third with the New Jersey Devils in 2003.

Gord Pettinger won Cups with: the Rangers in 1933; the Red Wings in 1936 and 1937; and the Bruins in 1939.

Al Arbour won seven Cups with three different teams. He wore a Blackhawks jersey in 1961 and Leafs jerseys in 1962 and 1964. And he won four Cups wearing a suit when he coached the Islanders in 1980, 1981, 1982 and 1983.

Arbour’s seven non-Montreal Cups is only second to Red Kelly, who won eight Stanley Cups with the Red Wings and the Leafs during the 1950s and 1960s.
