WHO SAID THAT?

March 9th, 2009 · No Comments

Some quotes from David Pollak:
“We weren’t prepared to play at the level we needed to play at,” the coach said. “That team’s playing way too well to give them a 2-0 lead.”
“I don’t think it’s a disease by any means,” the coach continued, when asked if losing could be considered contagious. “We’re going through our piece of adversity. It happens to be in March. We’re learning how to deal with it.”

“Penalties just took us out of the game,” their star player said. “But we’ve been pretty good all year with not taking them so it’s not like it’s a normal thing.”

“I’m not going to give up,” their goalie said. “I’m going to battle. Everybody can be a good guy during the winning streaks and the good times. This is the time when you get to see how guys respond, their character. And we’ve got a lot of character guys in here.”

Were these quotes from the ‘nucks’ coach and players in January?

No, they were from the Sharks’ coach, Joe Thorton, and Brian Boucher on saturday night.

What a difference a month makes.

On the Sharks’ chalkboard before the game was the following:

“Vancouver’s record over the past 15 games: 11-3-1.”

Make that 12-3-1.
