Now that Mats Sundin has returned to the Leafs, the Canucks are pleased to announce their most recent signing: Jabba T.H.
And, the Canucks aren’t concerned about his fitness.
“I talked to Jabba this morning,” coach Vigneault said. “He is going to be re-tested after the first four (pre-season) games. [He] is sort of playing himself into shape and as long as we see … consistent improvement we’ll work with him and give him the benefit of the doubt. The day that stops, it stops.”
“There are some incredibly fit guys here, good role models like Kyle Wellwood,” Big J said. “That’s the level he wants me to get at. It’s going to take some time, but as long as I keep working at it.”
“Kyle and I have become good buddies,” he continues. “We’ve enjoyed some nice meals together. We’ve also spent some nice afternoons sitting around the pool. Except people kept coming up and asking us for autographs – particularly that life guard with the weird leg.”
Jabba confirmed that Kyle has helped him to develop some moves to use during the shootout, and says that he’s looking forward to the exhibition game in Regina.
“I don’t care if they throw beer or hot dogs at me,” Jabba laughs. “People have to show their love in any way they can. There’s not enough love in the world….”
