In the previous post, we looked at thirteen NHL players who are receiving the league’s average salary – a round and about $1.9 million.
By and large, they were good players with some shortcomings.
I wanted to do the same with the NBA, and was conducting some research, when I came across a www.nba.com article, on MR. AVERAGE:
James Jones is the average NBA size, age, etc., so I thought that I would take a look at his salary – and coincidentally, he is making the NBA’s average of $4 million (courtesy of hoopshype.com).
I also had a quick look at his stats (courtesy of nba.com):
Finally, I reviewed the circumstances of his $4 million contract, and found out that he had been making $3.1 million, but was able to opt out in a year, when there were few good offensive players available as free agents (courtesy of the Oregonian).
I have researched another ten players at his salary level, and will profile them in a later post.

He now plays for the Orlando Magic.
You mean Miami Heat right?

That would be correct, Travis, and thanks for taking the time to write and remind me of my error.
Are you a hockey fan as well as a basketball one?
It looks like his game has really come along and I hope he can stay away from injuries.
Take care, Ron Spence
